CCF President's Corner
September Message from the President

Susan Slocum“Friend-Raising!”

Now what exactly does “Friend-Raising” mean? As your new Board President, “Friend-Raising” is the theme and the goal we have set for the 2010-2011 Board year here at the Chicago Coach Federation. It means that we have an incredible program in store for you this year with even more exciting changes to come! It also means that every current member should bring a bunch of friends to each chapter meeting and consider joining the CCF.

Perhaps you know:

  • A past member
  • A new coach
  • Someone who has never fully investigated what the CCF has to offer.

No matter what perspective your coach friends may come from, they need to come to a chapter meeting and check out all of the great new things we are doing to support them!

Last year’s board worked very hard to lay the foundation for moving the CCF forward in bringing its members new and exciting programs, opportunities, and resources. Although you may have already seen some glimpses of this work, get ready for the exciting energy our new board members bring you including:

  • The new and improved web site with multiple coach resources and tools
  • New membership database to help:
    • Increase your visibility
    • Build your business
  • Exciting, cutting-edge speakers
  • Fun/New special events/conferences
  • Improved communications that motivate you into action

We have never been more focused on delivering programs and initiatives that bring value to our membership while honoring our mission “to foster a community of Chicagoland coaches committed to learning and collaboration through powerful programs and community involvement resulting in the success of its members.”

Imagine the possibilities! After all, it is your organization and if you are not getting what you want/need, speak up! Share your ideas! Participate on a committee! Contribute to your own success! We need to hear from you!

I am truly excited to be a part this amazing new board, and I am excited to be your President! I look forward to seeing you and a bunch of your coach friends at the next “Friend-Raising” chapter meeting and beyond!

Warmly,

Susan Slocum
2010-11 CCF President

ICF Core Competency Call
: “Meeting Ethical Guidelines and Professional Standards”

The Chicago Chapter is hosting one-hour monthly calls every third Wednesday when we explore a single ICF Core Competency. These are elements that each successful coaching call should reflect, and, as a practicing coach, you should know. Last month we discussed “Managing Progress and Accountability .”

“Meeting Ethical Guidelines and Professional Standards”

This month we will discuss "Meeting Ethical Guidelines and Professional Standards," the understanding of coaching ethics and standards and ability to apply them appropriately in all coaching situations.

To explore these answers and more, join us on our call Wednesday, September 22, at 2:00 pm. Simply dial our CCF hotline 402-237-2103 Pin: 6969#. No need to sign up but remember to mark your calendars.

We are approved for CEU's (Continuing Education Units) for those coaches wanting to get credit for being on these calls. For more information, contact Ben Dooley at ben@bedo.org or 630-484-2336.

Coach Referral Service

Several months ago the Chicago Coach Federation created a Coach Referral Service in order to serve both our community and our member coaches. For a low annual fee, ICF member coaches can place a listing in the Coach Referral system. Located on our website, this referral system pairs up compatible coaches with prospects seeking their services. Many coaches have already begun using this service.

If you are an ICF member, you have two options for membership:
(sorry, this offer is available only for ICF Members,
but you do not have to be credentialed.)

The Basic Listing: For an annual fee of $25 you can list your Name, Email Address, your Coaching Specialty, and some additional basic coaching and contact information. You will also be able to add your own additional bio and comments (limited to 50 words).

The Deluxe Listing: For the low annual rate of $99, you can have a more prominent posting, which includes your Name, Coaching Specialty, Contact Info, Email Address, a Link to your Website, and a Photo or Logo as well. You will also be able to add your own additional information (up to 250 words). Your membership for either listing is valid for 1 year and will be automatically renewed unless you choose to cancel for any reason. (Before renewal you will receive a confirmation letter from Paypal letting you know renewal will be taking place to allow the option to close or continue your listing.) The Introductory Rate of only $79 is still available. You'll be locked in at this low rate as long as you maintain your membership.

Visit Coach Referral on our website to take advantage of this opportunity to represent the Chicago coaches, increase your exposure, and perhaps even find some new clients.
